POST SURGICAL INCISIONAL PAIN SYNDROMES
Pain after surgery is part of the normal Healing process. However, during this process there is the possibility of pulling and
shortening of the skin and muscle and fascia with the development of scar tissue and adhesions, particularly if the patient has
not been involved in a post surgical physical therapy regimen. This sequence of events can lead to many chronic pain
syndromes that can range from myofascial pain to entrapment neuropathies.

Treatment consists mainly of physical therapy in combination with pharmacological regimens. Judicious use of nerve blocks
can be considered in patients with entrapment neuropathy. In selected patients Spinal Cord Stimulation has been tried
successfully.
